Wire binding is a permanent method of binding that creates true lie flat documents and allows for 360° wrap-around. Twin loop wire, also known as double loop wire, is offered in a variety of colors and two different pitches–3:1 and 2:1. The 3:1 pitch is most common and accommodates a 32-hole punch pattern and is available in sizes ranging from 1/4″ to 9/16″. The 2:1 pitch accommodates a 21-hole punch pattern and is available in sizes ranging from 5/16″ to 1-1/4″.
To determine what size wire is needed, follow the steps below:
1.) Measure thickness of document.
2.) Add 1/8″ to the thickness of the document.
3.) Choose an element that has a diameter equal to or a little larger than the total in step 2.
